RESIDENTS' parking will be implemented in Skipton next year.
Surveys have been carried out into the possibility of drafting in measures to deal with high numbers of non-homeowners parking on the streets around the town.
The scheme will initially be introduced in the areas around Water Street, Salisbury Street, Granville Street, Middletown, Craven Street and Church Street.
Area traffic manager Bill Isherwood said that these areas were predominantly traditional terraced houses where there was no opportunity for residents to park their cars off the road."
Preliminary plans are in place and officers will be working on a more detailed scheme, examining elements such as how many spaces could be fitted in on the street.
Residents' parking schemes will only be introduced if at least 55 per cent of homeowners in that area supports the implementation. This figure is set by North Yorkshire County Council.
