MAN MOUNTAIN Jamie Fielden is set to sign for Cougars and add tremendous size, weight and Super League experience to the pack.

Jamie, is the big brother of Great Britain and Bradford Bulls forward Stuart Fielden. They joined the Bradford Bulls Academy together but when jamie was due to move up an age level the club scrapped their Under-21 team for a year.

"Basically they let a whole year group go, and I was gutted. Stuart continued in the Academy and has been there ever since," Jamie said.

He returned to the amateur game before being signed by Huddersfield where he spent three years before moving to Doncaster where he enjoyed the best year of his playing career. He was snapped up by London Broncos despite an cruciate ligament injury but the injury flared up and he took time out before returning to Doncaster.

"Things haven't worked out there and now I'm looking to wipe the slate clean and start again," he said.

Jamie thinks he still has plenty to prove in the game and is coming to Cougar Park to put his career back on track.

The former Huddersfield Giant is 6ft 6ins tall, weighs almost 20-stone, and is a very athletic forward.

"He will be a tremendous signing for the club," said coach Gary Moorby.

He added: "We have agreed terms but Jamie is receiving treatment for a knee injury at the moment. We have verbally agreed a contract and he began training with us this week, but we have mutually agreed not to register him with the Rugby League until he is fit to play.

"Jim wants to be 100 per cent fit before he makes his first appearance for us, which should be only a week or two away.

"He adds considerable size to our pack which is now shaping up nicely. He feels he has not been playing to his full potential over the past season or two and is anxious to settle down and prove what he is capable of. He is an aggressive, strong runner with a good offload game.

"We are delighted to have him at Cougar Park," Moorby said.

Fielden added: "I know I haven't played my best rugby yet. I'm 25 and still have 10 years left in the game but I don't know how fit, or how good a player, I can get.

"Now I just want to live for the moment. I want to get back to enjoying playing rugby -- and enjoy playing for Keighley," he said.

The club is planning to introduce him to fans at this weekend's home game against Rochdale when they aim to reverse their 18-14 defeat at Spotland.

"We have two games to go in the qualifying stages of the competition, both are at home and our destiny is in our hands," Moorby said.

"Rochdale will be looking to repeat their effort when we met a few weeks ago. We feel we did not play well on that occasion and if we continue our recent progress we are more than capable of taking the points."

Richard Mervill should be back from injury for the game, but James Rushforth and Chris Beever will have late fitness tests before the the final team selection.
