Sheffield Wednesday target Paul Heckingbottom today admitted: Every-thing is still up in the air.

City's current Player of the Year is on Chris Turner's hit-list at Hills-borough. And living in south Yorkshire, a move to another Second Division club nearer to home could appeal for the defender.

Heckingbottom said: "I haven't had a definite offer from anyone. I don't really know what is going to happen but at the moment I'm looking at my options.

"There's a bit of light for next year at Bradford and the mood is a bit more positive after the meeting with the PFA. But a lot of things have to fit into place first.

"The situation is still that every player can go on a free transfer because we aren't getting paid wages as such."

Turner has confirmed his interest in the 26-year-old as well as Rotherham centre half Guy Branston and Livingston's former Sheffield United midfielder John-Paul McGovern.

He said: "They are three players who we feel will perform very capably in this division.

"They have enjoyed personal success at the clubs they have been at and are all of an age where they could provide good service.

"Paul's consistency at Bradford has been most evident."

Left back Heckingbottom, signed last summer by Nicky Law from Norwich, was the only success story of City's relegation campaign.

He made 45 appearances - more than anyone else - and his performances were recognised with awards from both the fans and his team-mates.

He added: "We are trying to find out where we stand with the PFA. But at least it seems to be going in the right direction after last week.

"After the meeting on Friday when we weren't getting paid and the rest of the staff were also working for free, we were all saying it couldn't carry on like that.

"It's been tough for everyone and things remain up in the air. A lot has to be in place before June 9 when the Football League have to be satisfied that Bradford can play next season."

Even if they survive, City will face another difficult year ahead in administration which will limit the number of players that can be brought in.

Heckingbottom added: "We found it hard enough being in administration for the last couple of months, so going a whole season in that position would be really tough.

"It will restrict the number of new faces and there is also the question of who is going to be the manager."
