WADDILOVE Cup second round ties are set to be played on Sunday. The draw pits cup holders Guiseley against North Leeds at Nethermoor Park the day after the side's meet in the league at Roundhay.

It will be a test for Guiseley's new skipper Ian Chaplin who has taken over from Mark Ross who led the side to victory last season against Bilton when he made a fine 60.

Former Northumberland bowler Peter Graham is still on the sidelines with injury but Guiseley still have plenty of bowling with the likes of Andrew Paley, Marcus Brown, Mark Ross, Mark Best, Steve Dickinson, Chris Wain and Richard Whitaker.

There is little to choose between the sides with their early season form showing two wins to Guiseley and one to North Leeds.

Reigning champions Bilton will of course prove a test for anyone having added former Undercliffe stars Drummond and Guy Saxton to their line up.

They entertain Beckwithshaw who had Rob Wilkins and Steve Walmsley in form with the bat against Otley last Saturday.

Their Australian import Nathan Rimmington was also in good form with an unbeaten 40 and four wickets. The young seam bowler from Brisbane will be looking to make his mark in the cup competition.

Paul Angove's Follifoot will entertain Skipton and their Aussie Ben Waterman will get a taste of cup cricket Airedale and Wharfedale League style.

Hall Park will be looking to experienced bowler Bob Hodson to provide some action against Division B side Calverley.

Park have not had the best of starts with just one point from their four games.

Division C side Colton should be edged out by Division A visitors Otley but the Cross Green men are also seeking top form having just four points as they languish at the bottom end of the table.

James Davies will be looking to add to his growing reputation as a match winner for Otley.

Division B side Thackley should be sent packing by visitors Green Lane who will be led by the talented Australian Barry McCormick.

Lane currently lie joint third in the Division A table and are well capable of notching a big score.

The fast rising Kirkstall Educational side wait to welcome Adel and on current form the new boys should emerge victors.

There is little to choose between Collingham and Steeton at the moment as they lie side by side in the Division B table.

The Waddilove Cup draw is: Follifoot v Skipton, Hall Park v Calverley, Colton v Otley, Thackley v Green Lane, Kirkstall v Adel, Guiseley v North Leeds, Collingham v Steeton, Bilton v Beckwithshaw.

Birtwhistle Cup

The draw for the second round of the Birtwhistle Cup also to be played on Sunday is: Follifoot v Skipton, Hall Park v Calverley, Colton v Otley, Thackley v Green Lane, Kirkstall Educational v Adel, Guiseley v North Leeds, Collingham v Steeton, Bilton v Beckwithshaw.

The Birtwhistle Cup is currently held by Guiseley but they will not be defending the trophy after being knocked out in the first round by Pool.

Guiseley have won the trophy 11 times so North Leeds with nine wins will be hoping to close the gap.
