Steeton will be hoping that their long-awaited 115-run victory over Illingworth on Saturday may be the trigger needed to kick-start their Airedale & Wharfedale League Division B challenge.

Batting first Steeton made a fine 223 runs in their 50 overs, thanks largely to the efforts of Jon Best, who scored 58 not out in producing his best batting display for the club so far.

At 40-0 after eight overs, Illingworth could not have wished for a better start, but Steeton then reduced the visitors to 108 all out in 30.3 overs to collect a valuable six points as the resistance melted.

There was also good news for Upper Wharfedale in Division C. They managed a four-wicket win over Bolton Villas at Wood Lane, a tidy effort by the bowlers being supported by a solid all-round performance by the batsmen.

Silsden must have thought that the tide was running in their favour when they had Tong Park on the rack at 76-5, but the tide turned dramatically once Graham Wilkinson got his eye in.

He plundered an unbeaten 101 - including 14 fours and two sixes - and shared in a 99-run partnership with Brendan Ryan (39) to take the home side to 231-6.

That total proved more than enough to earn them the points as Ian Jackson (6-67) helped to skittle out the South Craven side for 102.

Hopes that Skipton's spectacular form of the previous week might give their season an overdue lift were not fulfilled when the Sandylands men entertained Burley.

Once again the batting was fragile, with only David Facey (47no) and Kevin Davies (41) making series headway as the side was bowled out for 122.

Unbeaten Burley were never likely to struggle with that target and they coasted to a nine-wicket win.

Tomorrow's matches:

Division B: Burley v Steeton, Collingham v Silsden, Thackley v Skipton. Division C: Ben Rhydding v Upper Wharfedale, Woodhosue v Addingham.
