David Lester helped Menston secure what could turn out to be a crucial league double over relegation rivals Hall Park in Division A.

Menston went into the weekend just a point clear of the relegation zone but a five-wicket triumph over the bottom club has given their survival hopes a huge boost.

Lester thumped an unbeaten 74 from 58 balls as Menston successfully chased Hall Park's 173 for nine. The defeat leaves Hall Park on 13 points, four behind Rawdon - who claimed a winning draw at Otley - while Menston are a further three points ahead in tenth place.

Bruce Percy smashed 15 fours and five sixes in an innings of 136 to help Rawdon post 222 for six at Otley, who managed 202 for seven in reply. The losing draw has dragged Otley back into the relegation mire, just three points ahead of Menston.

Simon Ross hit 44 and Ian Chaplin 34 as Guiseley claimed four points from a winning draw at home to Beckwithshaw. Chasing the hosts' 154 for eight, Beckwithshaw held on to claim two points by finishing on 121 for nine.

Division B leaders Burley slipped to a first defeat of the season as Illingworth ran out surprising winners by three wickets. Richard Brook hit 53 to help Burley to 157 for nine and although Nick Brook took four for 62 in Illingworth's reply it was the visitors who clinched the win.

Burley's defeat allowed Tong Park to move to within eight points of the leaders with a convincing win at Calverley. Nick Murden hit 70 and Brendan Ryan 49 as Tong Park reached 185 for seven in their overs. Andy Hurst then hit 31 but Calverley were all out for 123, Steve Young taking three for eight from 11 overs, seven of which were maidens.

Collingham are third with 40 points - 11 behind Tong Park - after a winning draw at Ilkley, while Thackley are fourth following a thrilling tie at home to Pool.

Andy Luxton top-scored with 46 in Thackley's 161 all out. Pool then stuck to their task and needed three runs to win off the last ball but Luxton restricted them to two as he finished with four for 52.

Silsden's final pair batted out the final ten overs to earn a point from a losing draw at Steeton. Andy Waggett top-scored with 51 to help Silsden to 127 for nine in reply to the home side's 183 for five.

Ilkley slipped into the relegation zone after a losing draw at home to Collingham, hitting 107 for eight in reply to the visitors' 181 all out. Second-bottom Ilkley are a point behind Calverley and a further two adrift of Knaresborough, who claimed a crucial win at bottom club Skipton.

Andrew Facey hit 69 as Skipton were bowled out for 136, a total Knaresborough passed for the loss of just six wickets.

In Division C, Horsforth's eighth successive win means they remain top on 56 points, one ahead of Bardsey. After bowling Harden out for 118, Horsforth cantered to a seven-wicket triumph with opener Ben Clarke hitting 72. Bardsey, meanwhile, beat Upper Wharfedale by 48 runs.

Bolton Villas remain bottom after a five-wicket defeat to Woodhouse while Cameron Taylor and Bernard Hughes both took four wickets apiece as Olicanian beat Alwoodley by nine wickets.
