A couple celebrated 21 years of marriage last weekend by renewing their wedding vows at remote Bront shrine Top Withens.

Stuart and Liese Andrews, 45, of Redditch, Worcestershire, spent the weekend in Haworth to celebrate their anniversary.

And as a gift to his wife, Stuart, 42, organised the ceremony because she is such an avid fan of Emily Bront's novel Wuthering Heights.

Stuart said: "My wife is a mad, mad Wuthering Heights fan -- we even have pets named after the characters -- a dog called Heathcliffe and a parrot named Edgar Linton. So because she is such a Wuthering Heights fan, I thought it was the ideal place for the ceremony. We had a very short service with a reading by the vicar before she blessed our rings."

Top Withens is popularly credited with being the setting for Heathcliffe's moorland farmstead in the novel. The desolate ruin on Haworth Moor has become a popular visitor shrine for admirers of Emily's novel.

The Andrews were married at Bradley Green, Worcestershire, on July 2, 1983 -- Stuart had wanted the service to be performed exactly 21 years later, but the couple instead renewed their vows one day later, on Saturday night.

They were helped by a team of countryside wardens from Bradford Council, including David Parsons. And in return for their services, they made a small donation to McMillan Cancer Relief. The Rev Jenny Savage from St Michael and All Angels Church performed the service.
