Otley RUFC are back in training for the new campaign after their excellent performance last season.

Not one to sit on his laurels Coach Peter Clegg has made a number of new signings.

The rest has been very short for the club's six players who recently returned from being part of a successful English Counties tour of Canada.

Just back from holiday Clegg has wasted no time in adding to his squad, signing second row Howard Parr, from Rotherham; No 7 Matt Stockdale, who appeared for Yorkshire, from neighbours Leeds Tykes, and centre Paul Mooney, who was on the Canada trip, from Tynedale.

Another promising centre, Kyle Dench, has also joined the club from Driffield as has centre Neil Taylor from Leeds Tykes.

Andy Brown is set to return to the club from Wakefield.

Parr, 31, joins Otley having missed the 2003-04 season due to his involvement in the War in Iraq as an RAF Flight Lieutenant.

Prior to that, he played for Rotherham Titans in their National League Division One winning side in 2002-03 and also in their first stint in the Premiership in 2001-02. Parr is equally at home in either the second row or the back row.

Mooney, 21, joins the club from National League Division Three North outfit Tynedale. He represented North-umberland in the 2004 County Champ-ionship and was rewarded with a place on the England Counties tour to Canada in June 2004.

Paul scored a brace of tries in the tourists' 38-17 win against the Rugby Canada Super League All Stars representative side.

Kyle Dench, 21, is an up and coming talent who has joined Otley from North Yorkshire side Driffield.

Kyle represented Yorkshire in the National Under-20s County Championship side at Twickenham in 2003. He was also Youth Development Officer whilst at Driffield.
