Police were today blitzing a Bradford estate with posters in a bid to solve the murder of Lennie Fulbirg.

Officers were delivering leaflets to 500 homes in the Bierley area, appealing for people with information about his death to come

forward.

Mr Fulbirg, 49, went missing in August, 1996 after leaving his brother's home in Buttershaw to meet a girlfriend at the McDonald's restaurant in Rooley Lane, Bierley.

His body was found seven months later close to an isolated lay-by on Oxenhope Moor, near Keighley. The corpse had been dismembered and burned.

Mr Fulbirg, who was four times married and thought to be the father of at least 32 children, was only positively identified last month following advances in DNA technology and police launched a murder hunt.

They launched a search of the moors for missing body parts, including his skull, arms and legs.

Detective Superintendent Phil Sedgwick, pictured, who is leading the murder hunt, said: "We know that Lennie had associates in this area and we believe people living in Bierley may have information that can assist our inquiry.

"Also, on the day he disappeared, Lennie said he was going to meet a friend at McDonald's on Rooley Lane, which is in Bierley. It is entirely possible that people living in Bierley may remember seeing him on that day."

The posters and leaflets ask four questions - 'Did you know Lennie?' 'Did you see him in August 1996?' 'Do you know why he was murdered?' and 'Do you have any useful information about this crime?'

Anyone with information can contact the incident room on (01274) 376100, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on (0800) 555111. They can also text information on (07733) 123123.
