Sunday's show at the Town & Country club is OFF.

Promoter John Ingle has pulled the plug after Nadeem Siddique was injured in training.

The Golden Boy is always the chief ticket-seller for these afternoon shows and it was decided that the bill could not go on without him.

Siddique said: "I'm sick as a parrot about this but there was no way I could have fought.

"It's the problem I've had before with a tendon in my right hand. I felt it go in sparring on Tuesday and then when I went in the next day to work on the pads it felt like an electric shock was shooting through me every time I threw a punch.

"I'm really disappointed for everybody, especially Donovan (Smillie), who is hoping to get a fight for bigger titles. This was a nice run-in for him and a chance to show the Bradford people what he can do.

"There were going to be a lot of new faces there as well. Since I played in the Save Our City game at Bradford, there were some of those guys coming down as well as a few of the City players.

"A whole new audience had been attracted to the fight and not just my regular supporters and I'm really sorry that we've had to make this decision."

Siddique has been advised to take a complete break now to allow the hand sufficient time to heal properly.

But he hopes the enforced break will not be for too long.

He added: "The last time this happened I was told it would take 12 weeks but within a month I felt a lot better.

"But I'll give it a good chance to rest, I'll take some time off to relax and then I'll come back fully fit and ready to go again."

Ingle, who plans to re-run the show at a later date, said: "Without Sid on, it was just not worth running it. With what we've built up over the last 18 months, it would be silly to risk that.

"Sid was having a good spar with Amer Khan when it happened. We'll have another look at it in the next couple of days but it's better to be safe than sorry.

"At the moment we'll look to put it back although we could always go elsewhere. But we'll see what happens with Sid first."

Smillie, in line for a shot at Damon Hague's WBF super-middleweight belt, was due to fight Paul Lomax from Sunderland. West Bowling cruiserweight Nate Joseph was also on the bill against frequent rival Lee Mountford from Pudsey.
