Skipton Town have regained their place in the Premier Division of the Devonshire Carpets Craven & District League, (writes Tony Simpson).
Their elevation after they finished fourth in Division One last season follows the decision of Cross Hills to withdraw a team from the league and join the West Lancashire League Reserve Division.
The Engine Shed Lane men had already indicated their willingness to rejoin the elite section should the opportunity arise before the re-structuring of the league was finalised, so there was no question of the club not grasping the opportunity with both hands when it was belatedly presented.
Cross Hills will doubtless be less pleased that their hopes of retaining a team in the Premier Division were unfulfilled when they decided to double their West Lancashire League presence.
Their hope was that they would retain their Premier status and that their promoted Division One side would be removed, but the league Management Board have decided to pursue a different course.
As a result, Town will be promoted, along with their neighbours Skipton Bulldogs, champions Gargrave and runners-up Carleton.
