WHEN the Waddilove Cup final takes place at Bilton Cricket Club on Sunday, August 8, it will be an all Harrogate final.

Host club Bilton will take on Follifoot after the sides won through their semi-finals on Sunday.

Bilton won the cup in 1996 when current players Miles Corish and Carl Heptinstall were in the side. Follifoot have never won the cup but were beaten finalists in 1997 losing to Hall Park.

On Sunday in the semi-finals Bilton had an easy task in wiping off a Calverley score of 126-9. Calverley had struggled against the bowling of Guy Saxton (4-32) and Andy Walker (2-13). Only opener Daniel Hopkinson with 29 and Stephen Alred with 32 showed any real resistance.

After losing opener Lloyd Mash for 14 Bilton made their victory charge with Miles Corish making 33 and Toby Drummond 69 not out.

Follifoot won through their semi-final after posting a score of 185-8 against Adel.

They lost both openers cheaply but then M Halmshaw made a fine 74. There were also useful contributions from Neil Walker (28) and N Granger (25).

Adel were dismissed for 158 in reply with Matthew Yates taking 3-28, S Bridson 3-20 and Ben Waterman 3-34.

Paddy Coughlin staged a late rally for Adel hitting 46 not out after they had been reduced to 52-6.

The Birtwhistle Cup final at Olicanians CC in Ilkley on Sunday, August 15 will be contested by Rawdon and Kirkstall Educational.

A new name will appear on the trophy as neither side has won the competition before.

An excellent all-round display by teenager David Wilkinson saw Rawdon defeat Adel by one wicket in the semi-finals.

Adel had made 182-9 with opener T James making 63. Young Wilkinson bowled well with 0-29 off his nine overs but it was his batting that won the day.

Rawdon were 90-3 when he came in and they soon lost another wicket but the youngster kept his head and finished with an unbeaten 53 as Rawdon won with 11 balls to spare.

Kirkstall were dismissed for 113 as A Rhodes took 3-16 and G Tinsley 2-15 for Calverley. The home side were then dismissed for 88 as B Keavy took 4-19 and M Roberts 3-17.
