Guiseley veteran athlete Tony Bowman, just weeks short of his 69th birthday, turned in some superb performances to win the British Masters Pentathlon title.

This was hot on the heels of his winning a clutch of medals at the British Masters Athletic Championships.

Former probation officer Tony won the Masters pentathlon title at Solihull with a win in the 200 metres in 28.2 secs and in the long jump with a personal best 4m 22.

Tony returned from the British Masters Athletic Championships at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham, with three gold medals and two silvers and was over the moon with his performances.

He won gold in the 100m in 14.07 with the wind -2.5 against.

He also took gold in the 100m hurdles in 19.14 secs, with the wind -2.2 against and in the 300m hurdles in 52.08.

His silvers came in the 200m with 28.44 and the 400 metres in 66.08.

These were Tony's best ever British championships.

He has now set his sights on the European Masters Championships next week in Denmark where he is hoping to compete in the same five events.
