YOUNG cricketers from Ilkley Grammar School beat Grange School to reach the final of the Bradford Schools' Cricket Cup.

Lee McGowan scored 56 not out and Alex Bailey 47 as Ilkley powered their way to 132 for two wickets from their 16 overs.

Ilkley's opening bowlers Lee McGowan (1 for 15) and Richard Broadley (0 for 16) were tidy and economical.

As Grange batters Razwan (25) and Mesan (21 not out) threatened with some big hitting, Ilkley's James Hall bowled tidily with figures of 2 for 19 to help steer his team to the final as Grange finished on 98 for five wickets.

Ilkley reach their second cup final of the year when the school's Under-13 team won through to the final of the Bradford Schools' Cup beating Grange School by 65 runs.

An excellent steady innings by Danny Bryan (45) and some big hitting from Richard Rhodes (24) saw Ilkley reach 118 for seven wickets.

In reply, Grange were always struggling against some accurate Ilkley bowling. They were finally bowled out for 45 runs with Tom Ross taking 4 for 14 and Jack Williams 3 for 0 off one over.

It has been a successful season for Ilkley Grammar School with their U-13 team also reaching thne finals of the Yorkshire Post Cup.

Unfortunately due to rain this was not played on the Yorkshire county ground as semi-finals but was instead played indoors on a rouind robin basis at the Yorkshire Cricket School. Ilkley finished in third place in this competition.
