Chart topping boy-band sensation McFly are set to make this year's Party in the Park a huge success - obviously!

The teenage foursome stormed into the charts this year scoring two number one hits with the first singles they released - Five Colours In Her Hair and Obviously.

They have been tipped to be one of the biggest bands of 2004, they're mates with the boys from Busted and they are looking forward to performing at Bingley's Myrtle Park on Sunday, September 5.

Named after a character from 1980s film Back To The Future, the group will perform a string of catchy hits from their debut album Room On The Third Floor.

They will be joined at the Pulse and Bradford Council event by Popstars: The Rivals band Phixx. Others who have confirmed they will play are feisty female foursome Tommi, boyband V and girl duo Mania - who wrote tunes for The Sugababes and Girls Aloud before taking to the stage themselves.

The Pulse programme controller Simon Walkington said more big names could be announced in soon.

"The Pulse Party in the Park with Bradford Council has got a great reputation in the music business," he said.

"That's because firstly it's a great setting in beautiful Bingley, but also because of the fantastic West Yorkshire audience and the huge welcome the stars get when they walk out on stage. They want to appear here. We've got a couple of big names looking at coming back from America, especially to be here."

Councillor Simon Cooke, executive member for regeneration and housing which includes leisure, said: "This again sounds like it's going to be a fantastic event. There is something for everyone in this two-day musical showcase."

Tickets for event are on sale now priced £8 from the box office at St George's Hall in Bradford or the ticket hotline (01274) 436000.

The Party in the Park is part of Bradford Council's weekend of live music in Bingley which begins on Saturday, September 4, with a free concert called Music at Myrtle. Headlining will be Roy Wood of The Move, ELO and Wizzard who will perform with his new band Roy Wood's Army. For more details, visit www.bradford.gov.uk
