It was all systems go for the Cowling Cup sem-finals with clubs determined to beat the poor weather that had wrecked the previous day's league programme.

This time the sun shone brightly and favoured Pendle Forest and Haworth Road who will contest the final at Glusburn on Sunday, August 7.

At Crossflatts, Haworth Road took on Haworth, and batting first they plundered 182-8. Opener Richard Butterfield made 44 as the other batsmen struggled against some steady bowling. It wasn't until John Driver blasted 26 in one over that the shackles were released. He was eighth out for 28 with the score on 129.

Graham Jones and Nick Griggs then plundered 50 for the ninth wicket before Griggs had to retire hurt on 27, with just two balls of the innings left, Jones finished on 17no. Gary Searby ended the day with 3-37 and Ross Balderstone 3-52.

The Bronte outfit, which had lost four players to the Under-17 side playing in their cup final at Oakworth -- which they won -- were always on the back foot and slumped to 83-9, as Adam Cook 4-34 and Jones 5-24, caused the damage.

Ted Booth 29no and S Knapper, 18, enjoyed themselves putting on 36 for the last wicket. The innings closing on 119 in the 38th over

Pendle Forest took on neighbours Barrowford at Chatburn. The Bull Holme side had first use of the wicket and without a gritty 54 from skipper Nigel Hargreaves would have been in deeper trouble than they ended up in. The only other player to reach double figures was S Harker with 17 which, together with 12 extras, helped the total to 102. Paul Hakin finished with 4-32 and Edward Snowden 3-23.

The Fence side lost two wickets scoring 31, and then galloped to an eight-wicket victory courtesy of P Archer 57no and S Davies 31no in the 32nd over.
