A Shipley business which has pioneered 'off-the-shelf' industrial buildings for fast-growing companies has won a contract to work on a new chain of up-market play centres.

Procurel - a joint initiative between Shipley-based Robinson Design Group and Wakefield construction firm Lemmeleg - has started work on the project for Topsy Turvy World.

Procurel is building the company's first play centre next to the Brent Cross shopping centre in North London and the template for the development is to be used on a further 25 sites around the UK in the next five years.

It uses the same ground-breaking 'off-the-shelf' model which allows commercial and industrial buildings to be built in record speed.

As well as using a series of standardised designs for the buildings, the company has also developed a simplified supply chain that brings consultants, contractors and sub-contractors together in one team. Clients are able to see what their new building will look like by using the Robinson Group's special 3D design suite.

Procurel's first major project involved the construction of a head office and warehouse at the Millennium Business Park in Silsden for Ilkley-based Blue Ice Developments, which was completed within five months.

And Procure1 is hoping the deal with Topsy Turvy World will lead to its move into the field of retail developments.

Procurel business development manager Sue Ainley said the link-up with the new soft play centre company was ideal because it needed a fast-track programme and a cost-effective design.

"Our vision is to simplify and demystify the procurement and construction process," she said. "What expanding companies really want is a new building that meets their requirements, and their budget, yet can be delivered quickly in an understandable, hassle-free way.

"Essentially we are combining a better service with better value for money and this approach has clearly been welcomed judging by the high number of enquiries we have received so far this year."

Alan Rae, Procurel director, added: "Since inception in 2001, we have substantially altered our pre-designed model to incorporate more options and increased flexibility for clients.

"The concept can now be easily adapted to a wide range of building types and our 'partnered' supply chain framework facilitates a true team approach.

"We are now confident of our lead times and construction programme and proud that we are achieving our goal - which was to provide clients with a fast guaranteed price for a cost-effective building that could be erected on a fast-track basis."
