Colin Todd has stepped up his striker search as Dean Windass battles to be fit for Saturday.

Todd has made calls about several players in a bid to get someone in on loan and bolster City's depleted attacking resources.

He is trying to bring in a new face in time for the Doncaster match at the weekend - although Windass believes he has a chance of making it.

Windass, who twisted his right ankle against Peterborough, said: "There is no ligament damage and I can walk on it no problem.

"It's typical because I had my left ankle strapped before the game on Tuesday and not the right one. But I'm quite a quick healer and if the swelling goes down in time I'll tell the manager I'm definitely available for Saturday.

"After getting two goals in two games I'm full of confidence and don't want to miss out. There's the added pressure knowing we don't have any other experienced strikers but I'm optimistic I can play."

Todd is also waiting on a decision from Jamie Lawrence but it is believed the midfielder is currently in hospital with a hand injury.

As exclusively revealed in the Telegraph & Argus, Todd is keen on bringing Lawrence back to the club. He said: "Jamie is one player I would certainly be interested in."

Goalkeeper Paul Henderson is set to make his league debut in the Yorkshire derby against Doncaster after finally receiving international clearance.

Loan keeper Ross Turnbull looked hesitant in midweek and the Australian is likely to be plunged straight in.
