Move over Dean Windass - the skipper is on a hot scoring run.

David Wetherall's reaction header to turn in Ben Muirhead's sliced shot in midweek was his second goal in 2004!

And Colin Todd will be hoping that it is the first of many this season as he looks for other parts of the City team to weigh in with their fair share.

Wetherall, who netted the only goal scored by a defender last term, said: "There's no reason why I shouldn't get a few now.

"We should be having a lot more of the play this season and more set-pieces so I'll try to get up

in the box and put my head on some.

"It's nice personally to get off the mark. Ben Muirhead mishit it like normal and luckily I was able to react quickest - it's just goal-poacher's instinct!

"With the one late on last season against Reading that's now two goals in the calendar year which is not a bad run for me."

Windass is off to a flier by netting in both games so far and hopes to be fit to keep that run going against Doncaster tomorrow. But City cannot just rely on him and the other frontmen for firepower.

Todd said: "Goal-scoring has been a problem for us and we've got to chip in more from midfield and set-plays. I'd love to have two strikers getting 30 goals but that is a tall order and even if they get 15 goals apiece you would still need other people weighing in with their fair share.

"Somewhere along the line your strikers will go through a little spell when it will not happen and you look to other players to chip in with a few goals."

Todd believes City can take a leaf out of Doncaster's book after their rapid climb back up from obscurity.

The City boss said: "A few years ago they were in the Conference and we were in the Premiership but that's history now.

"We're in this division because of us not being good enough to survive last season.

"We have to steady the ship and try to make progress. Perhaps we should look to do what Doncaster have done in many ways. They have got that momentum going over the past couple of seasons and are on a great roll."
