Dele Adebola signed for City today to beef up their plans to tackle Doncaster at Valley Parade.

Adebola joined on a month's loan from Coventry and goes straight into the side for tomorrow's first Yorkshire derby of the season.

The 29-year-old will partner Dean Windass, who will be given as long as possible to recover from his twisted ankle.

Adebola, who needs two more goals to reach 100 in his career, faced City three times last season - twice with Coventry and again on loan for Burnley.

He fits into the Brian Deane-style mould Todd has been looking for to take the heat off Windass.

Todd said: "Dele puts a little bit of fear into defenders and we're hoping he can do the business for us.

"He has not been in the first team at Coventry and this gives him an opportunity in the shop window.

"Dele has got plenty of experience. He went to Birmingham from Crystal Palace for big money and his arrival is a big boost for the club.

"He missed some of pre-season with a little niggle in his groin but he had a reserve game on Wednesday and is fine now.

"Peter Reid has been a big help. Dele's on decent money but Peter gave us the green light to take him."

Paul Henderson will make his league debut in goal, replacing stand-in Ross Turnbull.

Donovan Ricketts has also received his clearance at last but Henderson, having played twice in pre-season, is set to get the nod.

Henderson said: "I'll be nervous when the chance comes but this is what I've wanted and I hope to take it with both hands. It's a step up for me and I'm looking forward to the challenge."
