A DREAM of that elusive hole-in-one is enough to drag most golfers onto the course come fair weather or foul.

But Keighley man Kenneth Young completed a remarkable landmark last weekend when he scored the tenth -- yes tenth -- hole-in-one of his golfing career.

The staggering achievement came on the 154-yard, par three, 14th hole at Keighley Golf Club.

And Mr Young, as you might imagine, was understandably pleased with his latest one-shot wonder.

"I was very, very delighted. My golfing partners were very excited for me and congratulated me on the spot.

"I'm not much of a drinker, but I left some drinks on the bar for everyone else afterwards.

"I've had holes-in-one twice before on the 14th at Keighley."

But 76-year-old Mr Young, a former headmaster at the now closed Whinburn Residential School, had begun to doubt if his tenth hole-in-one would ever arrive.

"I got to nine fairly quickly, but it's been eight or nine years since my last one," he said.

"I wondered if number ten would ever come along and then it did, I couldn't believe it.

"People are elated to get one. It was special to me anyway.

"Afterwards I rang my son and said 'Would it mean anything to you if I said number ten?'. He knew straight away what I meant."

Mr Young, who has a current handicap of nine, scored his latest hole-in-one using a seven iron.

Eight of his ten holes-in-one have come at Keighley with another two scored at Colne Golf Club.

Mr Young, who has had a handicap of five, says his next aim is to score a gross round matching his age -- 76.

Although he wouldn't say no to his 11th hole-in-one either!
