Iestyn Harris grabbed his first two tries for the club as the Bulls exploded into form with a 38-12 victory over Wigan at Odsal.

The Bulls ran in seven tries to two in an awesome display, while on the other side of the Pennines St Helens slumped to a 28-22 home defeat by London.

That result leaves the Bulls two points clear in third place, a point behind Hull, who travel to Wakefield on Sunday.

Bulls coach Brian Noble hailed his team's improved ball control and reserved special praise for his forwards.

"This is the first time we have managed to look after the ball the way we have wanted to and it shows the kind of pressure we can put on people when we do it," said Noble.

"Some of the forwards were outstanding tonight. We rolled our sleeves up and won the ground and we are a pretty dynamic team when we do that. The scoreline could have been more if we had showed a bit more composure at their end of the field, but we are certainly making the right strides.

"I thought we were dominant tonight."

Leon Pryce and Robbie Paul got the Bulls off to the perfect start with tries inside the opening two minutes, but Wigan hit back with tries by Martin Aspinwall and Brian Carney.

But a Jamie Langley try stretched the Bulls' lead at the break and they never looked back, with Harris running in a brace and Shontayne Hape and Lesley Vainikolo also getting on the scoresheet in the second half.

Noble was delighted to see Harris open his Bulls account.

"He has been there or thereabouts for a few weeks now but has just been ankle-tapped or had his shirt grabbed. He's enjoying himself and you can see that."

But the Bulls boss refused to get carried away being in sole charge of third place after Saints' humbling by London.

"London are playing well and it is a reminder of how well we'll have to play against them when they come here. While you do look at the table, your focus has to be yourself, otherwise you can get distracted."
