Morley will play in Division One next season but near-neighbours Drighlington nearly spoiled the party on Saturday.

It took a brave innings from Morley captain Colin Nuthall to finally seal the win which gave the home side promotion.

The Australian scored a vital unbeaten 45 to see his side home after they had been struggling on 26 for five.

Nuthall put the visitors into bat after winning the toss, a strange decision because Morley only needed a winning draw to be certain of going up. By bowling first they lost the option of the four points.

Andy Baker and Tony Redmond put on 48 for the first wicket but spinner David Nebard was brought into the attack after 18 overs and he took five for 42 to help dismiss Drighlington for 123.

That left Morley with the relatively easy task of scoring 124 in 51 overs. It was anything but easy and the home side collapsed spectacularly with David Goodlad, Nebard, Richard Soulsby, Adam Larkin and Gavin Goodlad all falling cheaply. It was left to Nuttall and Paul Kinder to repair the damage and a fine late knock from Nathan Bromby.

Morley reached their target with two wickets to spare but it was nerve-jangling and had they lost, Keighley would have been promoted because they won at Esholt.

Esholt were dismissed for 129 with the Towler brothers - Ross and Alex - taking seven wickets between them.

Keighley easily knocked off the runs with Richard Robinson scoring an unbeaten 52.

Other pomotion hopefuls Bowling Old Lane saw their game with Gomersal abandoned due to rain.

Gomersal scored 219 and Old Lane replied with 103 for three when rain stopped play.

Old Lane would have needed Morley and Keighley to fail to have been promoted - provided they had won themselves of course.

Champions Bradford & Bingley took four points from a winning draw at Manningham Mills, Brighouse ended the season on a winning note at Hartshead Moor and Windhill triumphed at Lightcliffe.
