HUNDREDS flocked to Burnsall for the first ever Viking festival in the village.
The event which was held over the weekend celebrated the Viking heritage of the area.
It also marked the completion and formal dedication of a permanent display of Viking artefacts in St Wilfrid's Church.
Villagers from around Upper Wharfedale donned Viking costumes for the weekend to get into the spirit of the event.
Members of Great Britain's eight-man Olympic rowing team also attended to take part in coracle racing. One of them, Andy Hodge, is the son of festival organiser Peter Hodge.
As a finale to the weekend, a seven-foot longboat constructed by children over the two days was launched and set on fire in Viking tradition.
