Menston produced one of their best performances of the season but still suffered the disappointment of relegation to Division B.

Starting the day one point clear of Otley, Menston faced the daunting task of taking on runaway champions Bilton, a side undefeated all season and only on the wrong end of two losing draws.

Menston started solidly and with the help of Richard Taylor (85) and 24 extras set Bilton a target of 183 for victory.

Despite a half century from Miles Corish, the league leaders never looked likely to get there and with Robert Taylor turning in a first-rate spell, suddenly the chance opened up.

Taylor finished with five for 73 but it was not quite enough. Bilton still had two wickets to spare, giving Menston four points, which meant that Otley had to beat Adel to survive in the top flight.

They made a formidable start with both Chris Smith (77) and Andrew Burke (50) hitting season-best scores as Otley passed 200 for only the fourth time in the campaign.

Robert Atkinson then set about the Adel batting and once Brett Conrad (63) and Michael Dallaston (46) were dismissed things were always going Otley's way.

Adel were finally bowled out for 137, Atkinson taking six for 32, his best figures of the season, and Otley were safe by a single point.

Mark Ross (79), Paul Eacus (59) and Graham Wolfenden finished the season in style for Guiseley but the game petered out when rain intervened early in Follifoot's innings.

Outstanding bowling from Chris Quaife (5-44) and Darren Jayes (4-38) saw Ilkley dismiss Calverley for 129 and even though the batting could not match the quality of the bowling, Ilkley still picked up two points to ensure they remain in Division B next season.

Illingworth, whose game was rain affected, go down with Skipton, who rounded off a miserable campaign with only their second win, beating Silsden by three wickets.

Kevin Davies was the architect of the victory with a five for 32 spell, while Daniel Senior also took five wickets for Silsden.

Both promoted clubs, Burley and Tong Park, had to settle for 1-1 draws because of the weather, while Thackley's disappointing season limped to a halt, having to work very hard to take a point off Knaresbo-rough, who raced to 301 for four, including 149 from Jonathan Corcoran.

In Division C, Horsforth's hopes of celebrating promotion by overtaking Bardsey disappeared when they collapsed for just 60 at Olicanian, while their rivals smashed 336 past Addingham, who were then dismissed for 95.

Bolton Villas' Panka Sharma took four for 30 as Alwoodley were bowled out for 213 but the reply was interrupted by rain and Villas will have to apply for re-election.

Harden finished their season in style, James Roper hitting an unbeaten 84 as his side reached 235 for seven before bowling out Upper Wharfedale for 173 with Andy Bailey (5-61) and Phil Leng (4-46) doing the damage.
