Bridlington 4
Guiseley 1
Guiseley's unbeaten start to the season came to an emphatic end as they were overturned on the east coast by a resilient Bridlington Town.
Including the end of last season, Guiseley had gone 12 games without defeat but 13 proved unlucky for Neil Parsley's men. And the defeat left a bitter taste. "The run has come to an end," said manager Parsley.
"The nasty side of football has won the day. The kick-and-rush has prevailed over the more crafted side of the game. I'm not complaining that we have been beaten but I'm disappointed at the manner in which it happened.
"Bridlington didn't put us under pressure but they gave us situations to deal with and our defenders didn't or couldn't deal with them. We played half-decent at times but were second best.
"When the few chances came our way we snatched at them and we were beaten hands down.
"We scored in injury time but that was a token gesture for us."
Paul Palmer broke the deadlock as early as the seventh minute and he added the home side's second midway through the first half.
A strike from Joe Connor in the 35th minute meant Guiseley were 3-0 down and out of it before half-time.
Gareth Collinson netted in the 89th minute before Peter Sumner latched on to a head down from Mark Stuart to snatch the late consolation.
