The Bulls have snapped up former Queensland State of Origin and Australian Test star Brad Meyers.

The 24-year-old Brisbane Broncos forward joins the club from next season on a three-year deal, taking the back-row spot vacated by Logan Swann.

Meyers burst onto the scene in 2001, starring in Queensland's victorious Origin campaign and going on to make four Test appearances for Australia.

But his career has stagnated since and he has struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot at the Broncos and did not feature in their play-off loss to Melbourne at the weekend. Bulls coach Brian Noble will be banking on being able to help Meyers rediscover his best form.

"Brad will be a tremendous addition to our squad and I am delighted that we have been able to secure the services of a young player of his class who still has a lot to prove," said Noble.

"Brad is a superb player and is what the Australians call 'a good citizen'. The fact that he has been at what is probably Australia's finest club will stand him in good stead when he arrives at Odsal."

Meyers said he was looking forward to resurrecting his career at the Bulls.

"I am excited about joining the legendary Bulls, being coached by Brian Noble and playing with his elite squad," he said.

"I am looking forward to playing before the Bulls fans and experiencing life in a different culture."

Bennett, who brought Meyers through the system at the Broncos, said the 17 stone, 6ft 2in back rower faced a challenge he could conquer.

"I think Brad's style of play is really suited to the English game and I am sure he will make the best of the challenge that lies ahead of him," said Bennett.

Bulls chairman Chris Caisley said: "This is tremendous news for the club and our supporters can look forward to further signings prior to the start of next season."
