AFTER relegation from Division One of the Bradford League last season and then plummeting down Division Two this year Yeadon CC have quickly set about rebuilding their first team.

New skipper Jonny Henry was quick to take action and has secured the signing of Indian batsman Iqbal Khan for the 2005 season.

Iqbal has plenty of previous Bradford League experience and was a team mate of Henry's in his spell with Drighlington.

The India A batsman scored 1400 runs in a season at Drighlington and has been a regular for Bombay. He has played Bradford League cricket with Drighlington, Brighouse and Undercliffe and other Yorkshire League cricket with Mirfield and last season with Wakefield St Michael's.

Henry's brother Chris, a prolific wicket taker in the past season, is remaining with the club as is Pakistani all-rounder Naeem Khan, who will again be the overseas player as Iqbal Khan is now qualified as an English resident.

Young batsman James Todd will also be available despite going to Durham University after some excellent A level results. He will travel back for matches each weekend.

With a stronger side to play in the Yorkshire Under-19 batsman may well be able to fulfil his potential. It has been a hard struggle for the youngster at times in the past season but a number of innings have shown his capabilities.

Skipper Henry has spoken to three or four more players who he thinks will strengthen the side.

"With our signings people will see we mean business," said Henry.
