When Silsden Golf Club member Eddie Shuttleworth received a phone call telling him his wife, Gill, had won a prize he was fortunately persuaded not to hang up.

In the spring, Gill and Eddie took part in a golf competition sponsored by Beringer Vineyards of California. Their names were entered in a prize draw and the telephone call informed them Gill had won a five day trip for two to The Ryder Cup at Oakland Hills Country Club, Michigan, USA, with flights, hotel, and VIP passes.

Gill, a practice nurse in Ilkley, decided to share retired fire officer Eddie's enthusiasm for golf 2 year's ago, and is now one of the club's keenest members.
