Soldiers from Bradford have been enjoying their free time at a rodeo show in Canada. Robert Metcalfe, 21, of Holme Wood, Trooper Ian Fold, 28, of Great Horton, and Trooper Shane Jackson, 20, of Thornbury, spent three days off from intense training in the Canadian prairie at the Medicine Hat Stampede near Calgary. They saw professional rodeo cowboys ride bucking broncos and bulls, saddling wild horses, calf roping and watched whilst cowgirls barrel raced. All of the men were spending four weeks in Canada as the end to their year of training.

Bradford Watch committee has said that it will hold the Minister of Transport morally responsible for any accidents due to speeding on Harrogate Road and Apperley Lane. The committee have been campaigning for the reintroduction of the 30 mph speed limit in the area since 1947, but the ministry has refused to make any changes. Secretary to the Minister of Transport, Mr Molson, said that the area could not be described as built-up, and that although accidents had occurred on the road only one of them could arguably be attributed to excess speed.
