There was a deluge of re-arranged games in the Naylor Premier League as teams rushed to finish their fixtures with Clayton packing four games into five days.

A Tuesday night trip to Eccleshill ended in a 23-7 defeat, (Eccleshill's Mick Angus a 21-5 winner) which was then followed up with a 24-6 loss at Brighouse Sports, Hedley Kettlewell (21-3) and Chris Mordue (21-6) in form for rampant Brighouse.

Then came a double-header as Clayton played Ladyhill twice in one day. The first meeting saw them go down 24-6, Scott Bloodworth doing some of the damage for Ladyhill, winning 21-6. However, in the return game they finally managed a win, triumphing 20-10 with Bob Jeffries (21-9) helping Clayton on their way.

Relegated Knowles A continued their good form in the Godwin League as they swept aside promotion-chasers Armley Cons A 19-11. Gareth Metcalf again proved the difference for Knowles, winning 21-6.

Gary Whelan (21-6) and Jim Flemming (21-9) kept Asa Briggs' promotion challenge on course in a 22-8 win over Bramley Libs A, which would have been much worse for Bramley had it not been Ken Watkin's superb 21-2 win.

Graham Oliver's 21-5 win over Darren Clare helped Guiseley A to an excellent 16-14 win at Queensbury A, while Pell's Donald Shorten was a 21-10 winner as they despatched Wibsey A 20-10.

Spen Victoria B look like they have secured the second promotion spot in the Observer League after an excellent 22-8 win at Crowghyll A, Rob Firth (21-9) and Paul Blackburn (21-10) producing the goods for Spen.

Woodside A suffered an uncharacteristic 16-14 loss at Salts A, for whom John Preston scored a 21-6 win.

Drighlington A beat Heckmondwike 20-10. Alex Oyston continued his impressive season with a 21-3 victory.

As mentioned last week, Bowling Park A have had a stunning second half of the season which has left them with a great opportunity of moving up from the Bartle League.

Their promotion challenge was helped by a 18-12 win at Clayton, coupled with nearest challengers Royd House A's 20-10 defeat at Low Moor Harold.

Littlemoor's promotion hopes were also dented as they were beaten 19-11 at Tyersal.

Peel B's Anne Wheelhouse produced arguably the result of the day, defeating Lister A's Margaret Lee 21-2 on her own green as Peel won 18-12, while Brian Madden's 21-10 was one of seven winners as Brackenhill defeated relegated Oakenshaw 22-8.

Stanningley consolidated top spot in the Haigh League with a 22-8 home win over Bradford Moor A, Robert McCurdie (21-6) and Steve Gardener (21-7) on form for the home side.

Meanwhile, West Park have given themselves a shot at second spot after a 21-9 win at Shelf A closed the gap on second-placed Pudsey Brit B to one point.

Eddie Siberry (21-5) was star man for Armley Cons B as they just edged out Spen Ex B 16-14, and Julie Darvill continued her stunning form, winning 21-4 in Harold Park's 19-11 success at home to West Bradford A. Pat Jagger was also a 21-4 winner for Wyke B as they enjoyed a superb 23-7 home victory over Horton A.

The promotion spots in the Riley League have been wrapped up for some time with Asa Briggs B and Bramley Libs B dominating.

Relegation, however, is a different matter with Woodside B and Drighlington B battling it out for survival.

Drighlington travelled to Eccleshill desperate for a win but their hopes were dashed with Brian Conway an early 21-7 winner for Eccleshill as they came out on top 17-13.

Woodside B leapfrogged Drighlington after a 23-7 success against Crowghyll B. Carol Hill (21-9), Peggy Stoddart (21-6) and Geoff Wallace (21-5) proving Woodside's star performers.

BBA look to be home and dry in their pursuit of the Field Packaging League title after a 23-7 win at home to Bailiff Bridge, although Pudsey Ltd kept up the chase with a 27-3 success over Salts B.

Donald Ingle (21-1), Doris Swales (21-4) and Cyril Dalby (21-4) helped Birkenshaw to a 21-9 win at home to Shelf B, and Horton B just lost out 16-14 at home to Cleckheaton Sports.

Lister B have edged into top spot in the Mellor League after a 24-6 success at West Bradford B, while Tyersal also had a good away win, beating Horton C 18-12.

Irene Mitchell (21-4) and Ian Smith (21-6) starred in Asa Briggs' emphatic 25-5 win at Guiseley C.

Royd House increased their lead at the top of the Moorhouse League with a

30-0 trouncing of Wibsey D.

Jack Calvert's 21-4 win for Horton D ensured a narrow 17-13 win at Bradford Moor, and Brenda Denny (21-9) couldn't prevent Shipley Club going down 23-7 at Bailiff Bridge B.

l Peel Park Ladies' charity bowls event was a great success, raising £467 for the Air Ambulance and a breast cancer clinic.

Roy Dennison and Stacey Hay won the event with Dennis Rhodes and Sharon Gadd finishing as runners-up.
