MEMBERS of Keighley Amateur Boxing Club are eagerly awaiting the start of the the start of the new season -- and prepared with the club's presentation evening.
Cheif guest at St Annes Social Club was Keighley's former Junior ABA champion, Ronnie Murray, who subsequently figured alongside the present club's founder John 'Paddy' Quinlan as a coach when boxing was revived in 1972.
Compliments were paid to the club's present coaching staff for spending vast amouns of voluntary time in keeping the sport buoyant in the area.
The main trophy winners were: Liam O'Reilly, Yorkshire Schools finalist won the Richard Hirst Memorial Trophy for the boxer who made most progress in the championship.
Nathan Brearley won the John 'Paddy' Quinlan Memorial Trophy for the best single performance of the season.
Dominic Crowther won the Kit Pompey Memorial Trophy for the best stylis t.
James Kellett was winner of the Ronnie Tyson Memorial Trophy for fortitude.
Luke Smith won the James Emmerson Memorial Trophy as boxers' Boxer of the Year and the Laurie Casey Youth Award went to Ben Parker.
Members also bade an official farewell to one of the club's greatest stalwarts, David Binns, who is now working full time with the England Academy in County Durham.
