YOUNG martial arts stars hit the medal trail when they took part in a major competition recently.
Six-year-old Joe Horsfield and Edward Houldsworth (8) won gold medals at the Strike Tae Kwon Do annual competition held at Doncaster. Clubmate Joseph Sharples (8) was second in his class. They are all members of the Strike Tae Kwon Do club which meets at Oakworth Primary School.
n Keighley Tae Kwon Do instructor Chris Beanland was recently awarded his fifth Dan Black Belt during a grading at the head quarters of the Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain.
During the grading he had to demonstrate sparring, set patterns, self-defence and destruction techniques. He has trained in the sport since 1983 and won a gold medal at the last world championships. The club where he is an instructor meets at St Mary's School Riddlesden.
