ONE of the district's sporting classics, the Three Peaks Cyclo-cross race, takes place this Sunday. The action starts at 9.30am from Helwith Bridge, where the race also finishes.
Regarded by some as the world's toughest off-road cycle race, embracing more than 40 miles of cycling and running with the bike over the shoulder, and more than 5,000 feet of climbing and descending, a record 317 competitors, some from overseas, have entered this year's event.
Amongst them are the defending champions, international fell racing star Rob Jebb, from Bingley, and international cyclist Louise Robinson, from Stourbridge.
