Bulls chairman Chris Caisley has called on the RFL to appoint a "strong character" to referee Friday night's Grand Final qualifier at Headingley amid concerns the intimidating behaviour of Rhinos fans could influence the match.

"I'm not worried about us, but I am worried about how the officials handle the atmosphere and the crowd that they have got there at the moment at Leeds," said Caisley.

"The biggest problem playing at Headingley these days is that things are taken out of your hands. The pressure that the Headingley crowd places on officials is something referees sometime have difficulty coping with.

"There is plenty of abuse hurled out of the South Stand, not just at the players but at the referees. It is very loud and for visiting officials it is an intimidating place to go and that does greatly assist Leeds.

"A lot of referees find it very difficult to referee there because of the noise and the atmosphere and, quite frankly, the abuse that is hurled at them if they ever make a decision that goes in favour of the visiting team.

"For this game it is going to be interesting what the choice of official is because it is going to have to be somebody who can stand the heat."

The Bulls have lost in increasingly comprehensive fashion each time they have met the Rhinos this season but Caisley is confident they can turn things around at Headingley to book a spot in the Grand Final.

"I know they have done very well against us this year but, to be fair, they have not had any major injury difficulties at a time when everybody else was struggling," he said.

"While not wanting to take anything away from Leeds - they have had a fantastic season and are playing with a lot of confidence - there is no reason why we can't go there and win.

"I don't buy into all this stuff about teams being massive underdogs because they are playing away from home. It is the same sized pitch and the players don't change. There is no reason why if you can win at home you can't win away."

Caisley believes the winner of tonight's match between St Helens and Wigan will be a genuine contender to lift the title.

"When St Helens have got their full side out they are a match for anybody. And how can you count Wigan out? If they get past St Helens then they'll definitely think they can go all the way."
