Colin Todd slated his players after their latest cup fiasco, accusing them of having an attitude problem.

Todd was fuming after non-league Accrington became the latest minnow to dump the Bantams out of a knock-out competition.

The Conference side fully deserved their 2-1 win in the LDV Vans Trophy first round at Valley Parade - City's eighth straight cup defeat dating back to September, 2001.

Todd blasted: "There is an attitude problem when it comes to cup games. When we play against the lesser sides we have no bottle, don't want to take responsibility and pass the buck.

"It's something that has crept into the football club. Every time a side below us come here, we fall down to their level.

"You have to match the opposition for effort, determination and commitment and we haven't done that. I'm gutted.

"I put as much passion into management as I did playing. I will protect the players and look after them but if they aren't going to show the commitment I'm looking for, then there is going to be a rude awakening." Todd made five changes from the team that lost at Swindon. But apart from debutant Sam Denton at right back, there was plenty of experience.

Todd added: "We are talking about professional players who have been in the first team.

"There were people out there who might come knocking on my door because they've not been in the side. Well they've had an opportunity and haven't grasped it - so they had better not come knocking on my door again.

"I don't care about supporters having a go at me but the players have let themselves down. This result was down to us, not the opposition, and our mental state.

"I wanted to make progress in this competition because it would mean a lot to this club. But again we've been found wanting against lesser opposition."
