West Park 5

Ilkley B 31

Ilkley Thirds once again fielded a strong team with plenty of backs rather than forwards to chose from.

West Park were strengthened as a result of their second XV cancellation but were no match for a buoyant Ilkley riding on the back of last week's win.

New boy Jonny Shanks opened the scoring which was easily coverted by brother Pete.

Further tries came from Mountcastle (2) and flanker Fraser McHugh.

Ilkley were superior in forward play which resulted in quality ball for the backs, who were able to use the ball to their advantage. So much possesion stopped West Park from getting their hands on the ball which proved crucial as they were very capable in attack.

Pete Shanks rounded off the scoring for the afternoon, and Ilkley returned home from a job well done.

Ilkley Under-14s were joint winners of the Moortown Bowl alongside rivals Wetherby. Unfortunately the organisers did not reckon on any drawn matches, leaving no fairer alternative than to a share of the spoils.

Ilkley beat Harrogate and Baildon on their way to the final, drawing with Brodleians in a tense match. They lost only to Huddersfield.

The final against Wetherby was a 5-5 tough match with both sides showing excellent defence and attack, and was only shadowed by Wetherby's consistent bleating about Ilkley's physical approach to encounters such as these.
