Otley Town 0

Bay Athletic 0

In the last two weeks Otley Town have played Bay Athletic twice and have taken four points out of the six available.

Prior to the first game, Bay were joint leaders having won five games in a row, one of which was a resounding 4-1 win over Brighouse Town, who over the past few years have been consistently in the top two of this division.

Town went into Saturday's game with the thought that if they got a point from the game they would be happy but as it turns out were unhappy that they didn't take all three points as three or four good chances on goal went begging.

Bay always prove hard opposition and as in the same fixture last season players were sent from the field. In this game, Town lost Ben Hawley after an incident, which involved a player from the home side also being sent off.

l On Saturday Town entertain Hemsworth who drew 1-1 last week with Ovenden. Kick-off 2.30pm.

St Margarets Reserves 0

Otley Town Reserves 3

Town Reserves were away to Horsforth St Margaret's Reserves in a cup tie and it was the home team who had the better of the first-half. The week before, Town had played well and paid the penalty for not scoring. In the game against Horsforth, despite playing poorly, Town came away with all three points from a 3-0 win.

Scorers for Otley were captain Bob Johnson, with a strike from the edge of the six yard box; Ben Moutrie, who came in from the right, beating two players with the home 'keeper only able to parry the subsequent shot.

l On Saturday Town Reserves entertain Pannal Sports for the second time this season in the first round of the Senior Cup. Kick-off 2.30pm.

Otley Town A 2

Thirsk Falcons 1

OTLEY Town A played only their second game of the season meeting Thirsk Falcons Reserves and emerging 2-1 winners.

From the start Town had an early chance when Chris Farnell was put through but his weak shot did not trouble Thirsk's Romanian 'keeper. As the game settled Town were taking control and both Barber and Farnell had good opportunities to extend the lead.

Thirsk always give a good account of themselves and got through a couple of times but fired wide on each occasion. A fine move by Town saw Dinsdale get away and his fine cross was just missed by Farnell at the far post.

Town's first goal came from a cross by Hawley and the Thirsk 'keeper palmed it into his net. Then good work by Barber saw the 'keeper miss another cross and Farnell had an easy tap in to see Town go two up.

Thirsk came at Town in the second-half and some strong defending was needed to keep them at bay. Stand-in keeper Campbell made a couple of saves of good quality but Thirsk got a goal back when the ball should have been cleared and the visting forward stuck the ball home from six yards.

Town hung on for the last 16 minutes to get a well-earned result.

l On Saturday the A team are at Clifford. Phone Paddy Campbell for the meet time.

Otley Town B who had selection difficulties last weekend were defeated 5-2 in a local derby with Pool. This week Town B travel to play Kirby Malzeard A in Round One of the Spa Cup. Kick-off 2.30pm.
