Warrington Woolston 32
Bradford Dudley Hill 18
Dudley Hill are looking into the eligibility of one of the Warrington Woolston Rovers players after the Bradford side were defeated in this LHF Healthplan National League Three qualifying final play-off at Bennetts Recreation Ground.
The player concerned is BARLA international second-row Dave Patterson.
"We believe he should have played at least twice for them before appearing on Saturday and we reckon he might only have appeared once," said Hill's first-team manager Lee Collins.
"We were outplayed, but if they have played someone who is ineligible then...
"However, the RFL will have to act quickly as the Grand Final is next Saturday."
Tony Williams put Hill ahead with a sixth-minute try that was converted by Jason Lee, but Rovers were level after 13 minutes with a try by second row Andy Addison that was improved by Chris Mellor. A Lee try then made it 10-6 to Hill, but Patterson then levelled matters up. James Brabin gave Rovers the lead in the 36th minute, Mellor improving it, and centre Lewis Evans made it 16-14 at half-time with a try.
Rovers then bagged tries by Craig Harris and Steve Smythe. Second row Liam Jordan replied, but Mellor's try made things safe for Rovers.
