Colin Todd is pushing to keep Dele Adebola for a third month and possibly longer.

Adebola's loan spell runs out after the trip to MK Dons on Friday.

But City and Coventry have already agreed in principle to an extension providing the striker himself is happy.

Todd stuck Adebola on the bench for Saturday's win over Barnsley but still intends to hang on to him. And once again, he has repeated his wish to make it a permanent deal.

The City boss said: "Dele is still part of the set-up and we'll try to get him for another month. Hopefully by then we might be out of administration and can try to take it further.

"When Dean Windass went off on Saturday, you know on the subs' bench you've got someone coming on that everybody will be delighted with.

"That's the important thing of having three or four good strikers in the team."

Todd is also taking a look at Stockport winger Owen Morrison. The former Northern Ireland under-21 international, who played for Sheffield Wednesday, is training with City for the week. Todd said: "He is under contract with Stockport so we can't do anything at the moment but I just want to have a look at him.

"We can mark the agent's cards until we can come out of admin."

City's other loan striker, Neil Roberts, linked up well with Windass, who spurned a glut of chances before netting a twice-taken penalty. Todd added: "We haven't spoken with Wigan about Roberts at this moment but for the football club to push forward you've got to have players like that. He's a team player who can bring people in and puts the opposition under a lot of pressure."

Skipper David Wetherall underlined the importance of the second straight home victory which wiped away memories of Accrington.

He said: "It was a season-defining game. Before kick-off we were three points off the relegation places and three off the play-offs. The first half was probably our best of the season. People may think Bristol City was better because we got four goals but all-round, I thought Saturday was as good as any.

"Let's just hope now we can build on it unlike after Bristol City. Let's win the next one and get right on the verge of the play-offs."
