Colin Todd will not be heaping any pressure on two-goal Michael Symes.

Symes was the unlikely hero in City's fifth straight win, coming off the bench against Sheffield Wednesday to score twice.

They were the 20-year-old striker's first goals since coming to the club in the summer from Everton. And with Dele Adebola sidelined with an injured hamstring, he will be thrown into the heat of next week's table-topping trip to leaders Luton.

But Todd insisted that Symes will not be fazed by the spotlight.

"There is still no pressure on him, there never has been. I just tell him to go out and enjoy your game.

"It's brilliant for Michael to get the two goals and it will be a great weight off his mind. But I've never lost belief in him.

"He came to this club knowing that there was always going to be a period of being in and out the side.

"Michael has worked at it and now he has come up with the goods. The second goal in particular was an absolute peach.

"He could even have had another when Steve Schumacher nearly put him in again with a great ball.

"He's a willing boy who has got certain abilities and this will be a great boost to his confidence. He's still learning like a lot of my players and hopefully he will get better and better."

The Symes double backed up by another goal from Dean Windass pushed the Bantams up to second spot - four points behind Luton, who lost their third game in a week.

Todd added: "At half-time I said a few things about our attacking play. Ben Muirhead had to get further forward so he could raid down the left side and I had to get us as a team to play more into the front men.

"And I thought we were excellent after that. We've sparkled and produced three excellent goals."

City's winning run is now their best since 1984 but the game, watched by the biggest home crowd of the season, was marred by a couple of incidents off the pitch.
