The fifth single from Keighley rock band Hush is likely to be the last, said the Keighley rock band's singer and songwriter Don Gaudiosi.

He said he simply cannot afford to pay hundreds of pounds for the cost of studio time, printing and pressing for further discs.

He said: "Most of the songs on the new CD are upbeat. My songs have got stronger as I've recorded, and this single is the strongest yet.

"I've spent nearly £5,000 recording CDs over the past few years. I like recording. If I record again I'll be out of house and home -- it's a good job I'm single!"

Once the new CD -- containing four original tracks -- is released early in the New Year the band will continue playing live.

They have regular bookings throughout autumn and winter including the Snooty Fox, Oakworth, on November 20 and New Variety Club, Keighley, on November 27.

The biggest gig comes tomorrow when Hush is supported by rockers Circus? and singer John Driver at Victoria Hall in aid of Airedale Hospital's breast cancer unit.

Don -- who has always preferred recording to playing live -- stresses he will continue gigging with Hush comrades Pete Kaberry, Ian Wilkinson and Andy Sale.

"The guys are very good musicians. Without them I'm no good. Even though I write the songs, I rely on them.

"We'll always continue playing live. It's hard to get gigs. Locally isn't a problem, but in other towns they don't know you."

Tickets for tomorrow cost £5 from Keighley Information Centre in the town hall (today), or £6 tomorrow on the door. The gig starts at 7.30pm.

n Big Bang play their annual Halloween gig tomorrow at St Thomas's Hall, Sutton, with admission around £5.

Musicians Stan Greenwood said the band's latest CD of hard-edged Sixties covers, a year in the making, is due for release next month.

He said: "If you want to catch my annual rendition of the Monster Marsh be there early as last year's gig was sold out!"

n GaGa plays its popular tribute to rock group Queen on November 24 at King's Hall, Ilkley,
