IT'S the last of my columns from this tour -- and I've now left New Zealand.

This 'letter' comes from the sun baked island of Fiji where Vicky and myself are indulging ourselves with lots of R&R together with a bit of island exploring after a tough, compact three weeks playing rugby in New Zealand.

Last Friday's Third Test against the Kiwis didn't quite go to plan. After a good start we relaxed too much in the middle of the game and came out on the wrong side of a 52-32 scoreline.

Rammy was back to his usual best with three tries, and in true Ramshaw style he only managed to clock up two metres between all three.

Overall the Kiwis had more skill than us and deserved the series win, but one thing that shone through was the British spirit and a desire to compete right to the end.

As I mentioned last week Sonny Whakarau came to the game. He is till playing and is captain of the New Zealand Maori team that is playing in the Pacific Cup against teams like Tong, Fiji and the Cook Islands.

As I was leaving I heard they had made the final against Cook Islands so well done to Sonny.

He tried telling me his is still only 37 (I always knew he was rubbish at adding up) and he now has seven children - all of them girls.

Imagine trying to get the weekly shopping done with all them hanging off you!

On Saturday morning I said goodbye to all the lads who were going to Singapore to play a 10-a-side game against the Singapore national team. The game is still very new over there so the publicity will do them good.

Fiji has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, lots of different islands clustered about with white sands, crystal clear waters and miles of coral reef.

Just of make sure we didn't forget about home we bumped into a retired couple from Bingley and the man used to be an IT teacher at South Craven School! How small is the world?

Despite all the great times it will be nice to be back on Monday (honest) and be with Laura and Alex, and also get stuck back into the development programme at the Cougars. Jeremy Crowther has been in the hot seat while I have been away and it was great to see he was named Clubman of the Year - cheers Jeremy!

Finally I would like to say a big thank you to all the sponsors who made this trip possible: John & Maggie Edwards of MCC Autos, Jeremy Crowther, Chatfields, Chris & Lindsey Dorrell, Mam & Dad, Kadtal, the Keighley News and especially Nigel and Wendy Simpson who have given me a massive amount of support. Cheers, I owe you all a beer or two.

Ni sa moce (That's Fijian for goodbye) -- Matt.
