PAUL NEWBY and Cain Canning have been selected to represent England at the World Karate Championships in Mexico next month.
They are both members of the Silsden-based Seidokan Karate Club and will be part of a seven-man squad travelling to the competition.
Paul Newsby will be fighting in the Under-60 Kilo class and Cain will compete in the Under-70 Kilo section, they train at Silsden Town Hall under the watchful eye of 6th Dan coach Jeff Bottomley.
Both Paul and Cain had to undergo a rigorous selection process against the top fighters in the country to cement their places on the team.
The competition takews place in Monterrey, Mexico, from November 18-21.
n Seidokan club member Phil Briggs was a member of the Northern Regional Karate team which won the English Regional Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
The northern squad is also coached by Jeff Bottomley.
