NORTH Ribblesdale put in a much better performance despite losing 19-9 against a talented young Pocklington side who were fortunate to win a game dominated by defence.

Ribblesdale did have the opportunity to win the game when taking a second-half stranglehold on the Pocklington pack, but fell away - perhaps understandably - when an obvious try by Russell Howarth was disallowed..

Despite this, Pocklington won the game because of resolute tackling and a fine goalkicking display by 17-year-old debutant fly-half Bennet, who kicked four penalties and converted his own try.

Ribblesdale's response was three penalties by Adam Whaites, who also missed two difficult chances he would normally have expected to convert.
