Silsden'S FA Vase dream continues after their hard-fought 2-1 home win over stubborn North Counties East opposition Tadcaster Albion.

In what was not a game for the purists, the cobbydalers did just enough to see off a well-organised Tadcaster team.

Towards half-time the mercurial Longley engineered a free-kick for Rhodes to cross and Jimmy Spencer stooped to direct a header into the far corner past Ryder's despairing dive to give his side a 1-0 interval lead.

In the second-half Tadcaster started the brighter and their best chance of the game on 49 minutes saw Jackson's shot deflect over the bar with Foulger beaten.

This seemed to re-awaken the cobbydalers, with Longley again instrumental in setting Hanson up with a great chance on 55 minutes, only for Waddington to block, and Silsden's constant pressure finally paid off on 58 minutes when good work from Rhodes left Andy Holden free to drill his shot past Ryder from 15 yards.

Silsden seemed to be coasting to a 2-0 win when, on 89 minutes, the excellent Nettleton misguided a clearance over the beaten Foulger to give Tadcaster some hope, but Silsden held out for a deserved win.
