Bamber Bridge 2
Guiseley 1
A host of second-half chances went begging as Guiseley slumped to defeat at Bamber Bridge in a tight roses clash that the visitors could rue later in the campaign.
Guiseley made most of the running and were the more inventive of the two sides but they came up against an inspired home defence.
There were early chances for Guiseley - Richard Chattoe after just four minutes and two set-pieces.
Mark Stuart whipped in the free-kicks. The first was headed fractionally wide by Simon Parke and the second was a direct effort just off target by the former Bantams midfielder.
Chattoe put the ball past his own keeper John Lamb in the 34th minute and a minute later Jimmy King gave Bridge a 2-0 lead. Stuart headed wide in the penultimate minute of the first half.
The list of chances in the second half was endless, Dave Henry had a shot cleared off the line and another Stuart effort was somehow saved.
It was left to substitute David Cooke to reduce the arrears with a right-foot shot from the edge of the area ten minutes from time.
