Liversedge 0

Coalville Town 0

The FA Cup dream lives on for Liversedge but Eugene Lacy does not want to start talking about playing Tony Adams' Wycombe Wanderers just yet.

First there is the little task of winning a fourth qualifying round replay against Coalville Town, who somehow managed to survive at Clayborn on Saturday.

But if Sedge do pull it off, a trip to Coca-Cola League Two club Wycombe will swell the coffers nicely.

Sedge travel to Leicestershire tomorrow evening for the replay full of confidence, knowing they are the better side.

Whoever wins will become the first club to reach the FA Cup first-round proper after starting out in the extra preliminary round, having already played five ties.

But Liversdge should have won on Saturday. They were the best team and the score only stayed goalless thanks to the agility of the visiting keeper Shaun Bowles.

He saved spectacularly from Scott Metcalf in the first half and then late in the game palmed away a thunderbolt from Andy Markham.

In between, skipper Gareth Hamlet had a header cleared off the line and Asif Hussain saw a 'goal' disallowed. His long-range shot flew in off a post but the linesman saw a player standing in an offside position.

Sedge were understandably a little nervous as the game got underway in front of a large crowd. But after 20 minutes, they got into their stride and forced the visitors into a number of mistakes and fouls.

But free-kick specialist Hussain twice saw his efforts deflect off the Coalville wall to safety.

Hussain said: "I don't know how we drew the game. And I can't believe the referee ruled my goal to be offside. We should have scored. I just didn't connect properly with the free-kicks but we will do it tomorrow."

Certainly Sedge will have to improve their finishing. The chances came thick and fast towards the end of the game but they seemed to want to walk the ball into the net.

Nathan James had a shot blocked when scoring looked a formality and then Hamlet was put clean through for what was surely to be a last-gasp goal but the centre forward missed the target.

l Two buses have been laid on for Liversedge fans wanting to go to the replay - leaving the club at 4pm and 4.30pm. Those who want to go are urged to report to the club before setting off.

l The FA has e-mailed Sedge to say that Lee McKeown may be the FA Cup's youngest scorer - but they do not know for sure. McKeown scored in Liversedge's 4-1 win at Newcastle Blue Star, aged 16 and three days. FA historian David Barber says he is the youngest they know about.
