Menston library played host to Foyle's War star Michael Kitchen when he was filming a new project in Yorkshire last week.

The library was the venue for a scene in a new one off TV drama, Falling, which will be screened on ITV next year.

Mr Kitchen who plays Det Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle in the Second World War series which is being screened at the moment, stars with Penelope Wilton in the latest drama.

Filming has also taken place at High Royds as well as at locations in Leeds, Wakefield, Saltaire and on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal for the new Granada Yorkshire television production.

In Falling, Penelope Wilton plays Daisy Langrish, an author who moves into a Yorkshire cottage she has bought as a bolt-hole from her busy life in London.

Immediately on hand to help her settle in and offer his services as a gardener is Henry Kent -- played by Michael Kitchen -- who lives on a dilapidated houseboat on the nearby canal.

The screenplay is by Andrew Davies, whose previous ITV credits include Doctor Zhivago, Othello and Moll Flanders, as well as adaptations of classics such as Daniel Deronda, The Way We Live Now and He Knew He Was Right.

The dramatisation was inspired by a real incident in the life of novelist Elizabeth Jane Howard. The cast includes Slyvestra Le Touzel, Malcolm Sinclair, Joanna David and Penny Downie.

Keith Richardson, Controller of Drama, Leeds, and executive producer of Falling, said: "The exciting pairing of Michael Kitchen and Penelope Wilton in this Andrew Davies script will, I am sure, create a truly memorable film for ITV1."
