National League Three North's first West Yorkshire derby of the season takes place tomorrow - and it could hardly have had a better build-up.

Leaders Halifax have won all eight of their league fixtures this season, while visitors Bradford and Bingley have triumphed in their last five.

That sequence has lifted them to fourth in the table and their coach Geoff Wappett says of the clash: "This is what it is all about."

He added: "I am really looking forward to the match - it should be a great spectacle."

But he concedes that the Ovenden Park club have the edge in experience.

"Halifax are used to winning, and they have learnt over the past two seasons how to grind out victories," said Wappett.

"Experience is paramount and they have got that experience, but it isn't like playing in the Premiership.

"There you have easy access to video equipment and can plan your strategy, but all we know about Halifax is second hand and hearsay, and I am sure it is the same for them with us.

"Therefore, and I am not being trite when I say this, you really have to concentrate on your own affairs.

"You have to make sure that all your team plays to the best of their ability in matches like this as nothing less will do."

The Bees bring prop Ronnie Kelly back into the starting line-up at the expense of Roger Raper, who drops to the bench.

The four replacements also include

hooker Peter Scott, and hopefully centre Phil Greaves.

Tomorrow will be a special day for Bees full back Joe Simpson, who spent a season at Halifax before moving to Wagon Lane.

"It will be interesting," said the counter-attacking last line of defence. "They haven't changed their line-up much other than for their imports.

"They also have rugby league players Ollie Marns and Jamie Bloem. It will be a difficult match."

Simpson added: "I was just starting to establish myself there when I left, and it was pretty much like here in that I began on the wing before moving to full back."

Cleckheaton's opening league victories over Darlington Mowden Park and Fylde have faded into the background and since then the Moorenders have lost six out of seven. Victory is therefore vital tomorrow at basement club Bedford Athletic, but at least Cleckheaton have been boosted by a five-figure sponsorship deal this week with Volkswagen Van Centre (UK), who have set up business next door to the rugby club.

Cleckheaton Sports Club chairman Alan Bentley said: "What we have learnt this season is that there is not a lot of difference between a successful side and an average side.

"The difference is confidence. We have been very structured in defence, but we have lacked a killer instinct in attack.

"We beat Darlington Mowden Park and Fylde, but have lost confidence since. We have 'bombed' a lot of chances, but at least we have been creating them.

"One day we will surprise one of the good sides in the division, but as for tomorrow we don't just want the bonus point, we want to win.

"We are all sticking together and will have a busload of supporters."
